Medical Care Center

St. Theresien Hospital

St. Theresien Hospital in Nuremberg is a primary care acute hospital, originally constructed between 1926 and 1928. Since the early 1980s, it has been expanded and gradually renovated.

The conversion and expansion of the intensive care unit create an admission care unit on an ongoing basis in the existing structure. With the new construction, it was possible to maintain the organizational principle of the existing structure while increasing functionality.

One of the planning tasks was to interconnect the inpatient hospital area with pavilions for medical practices, a dialysis station, a rehab park, and a pharmacy to create a medical care center. The foundation for this was laid by the preceding master plan.

By expanding to include a radiotherapy unit, we were able to meet the higher functional requirements. In addition, service and social areas were created, along with changing rooms with a deep courtyard for natural ventilation. Skylights in the hallway area provide pleasant and natural light indoors.
